NELLORE: Tension gripped Mypadu village in Indukurpeta mandal, 25 km from here, on Tuesday when the security guards of YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy and fishermen clashed during election camapigning by the former.According to information reaching here, some fishermen demanded that Jagan, who was canvassing for his party candidate N Prasanna Kumar Reddy in the Kovur Assembly by-election, visit their village which is on the sea shore 2 km form Mypadu.But, Jagan, who was already behind the schedule and had to tour Indukurpet and other villages, expressed helplessness. Unable to take the rejection, the fishermen entered into an argument with Jagan’s security guards and in the melee a 10-year- old boy fell down and suffered injuries. Jagan had left the place by then and policemen had their hands full in controlling the enraged fishermen.The previous night Jagan’s followers had a heated argument with policemen who objected to Jagan canvassing even after 10 pm.At the request of the people of North Rajupalem in Kodavalur mandal, Jagan stopped and addressed them, but the police objected to violation of the election code which stipulates that no election meeting be held after 10 pm. An argument ensued but the situation was quickly diffused by Jagan who stopped his address, switched off the mike and left the place.On Tuesday Jagan campaigned at Mypadu, Jagadevipeta and Gangapatnam, appealing to voters to vote for his party candidate N Prasanna Kumar Reddy. He held the Congress and TDP responsible for the political instability in the state.Prasanna Kumar Reddy and others also spoke.
