NCB 'Witness' in Viral Selfie With Aryan Khan Arrested in Pune in 2018 Fraud Case
The detention comes days after KP Gosavi claimed he would surrender.

An “independent witness” of the Narcotics Control Bureau in the Aryan Khan case, whose selfie with the son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan went viral, was arrested in Pune on Thursday in connection with a cheating case dating back to 2018, days after he claimed there was threat to his life and he would surrender to the police.

A private investigator, KP Gosavi was present during the Mumbai cruise ship raid earlier this month and later at the NCB office with Aryan Khan where his selfies and videos showed he had unlimited access to the 23-year-old. This prompted Maharashtra’s ruling alliance to raise questions about the anti-drugs agency’s investigation.

Gosavi reportedly ran a company named KPG Dreamz Solutions which promised jobs abroad to aspirants from various fields. The company used social media platforms for promotion.

The case was registered after an aspirant accused Gosavi of duping him of Rs 3.09 lakh on the pretext of a job at a hotel in Malaysia. Upon his arrival in Malaysia, the aspirant found out that he had been cheated by Gosavi.

In the Aryan Khan case, in further trouble for Gosavi, a man claiming to be his bodyguard accused him of bribery. Prabhakar Sail, who is another witness in the case, said he heard Gosavi during a call about payoffs with one Sam D’Souza. Sail claimed he heard Gosavi say they should ask for a “bomb ₹ 25 crore” and then settle at ₹ 18 crore, of which ₹ 8 crore is for the NCB’s zonal officer in charge of the investigation, Sameer Wankhede.

Wankhede had spearheaded the drug bust at a cruise off the Mumbai coast on October 3, leading to the arrest of Aryan Khan, among others. He is now involved in a bitter spat with Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik over the probe and also faces a vigilance probe after the bribery allegations.

Gosavi discussed the allegations with CNN-News18, saying he would surrender as he “can’t tolerate more”. He said he had never met Shah Rukh’s manager Pooja Dadlani or went to the Trident Hotel for extorting money.

Gosavi further clarified that the selfie that had gone viral had been taken on the cruise terminal and not at the NCB office. He said he had received information about the drugs racket from a source and informed the NCB. He claimed there was a threat to his life, and he had received several extortion calls after October 3, adding that political agendas were behind it.
