Water Cube is an outright landmark, a work of sublime architectural beauty.

Location: Situated at the heart of the Olympic Green the Water Cube can host 17,000 spectators with 11,000 of those seats due to be removed after the Games.

Description: The Water Cube is an outright landmark, a work of sublime architectural beauty which has become one of the centerpieces of Chinese pride amongst a string of new constructions. Viewed from the exterior at night one is presented with a luminous blue oblong structure seemingly built of bubble bricks, which are actually air cushions.

Sports: Swimming, diving, synchronised swimming, water-polo (final).

Event dates: August 9-23, water-polo final August 24
