BANGALORE: Young talents get recognised for their excellence in academics and extra-curricular activities. Max New York Life Insurance company has recognised 1022 students.Max New York Life Insurance company awarded 1,022 students recently with the second igenius scholarships 2011, unique parent-child engagement initiative that recognised excellence among school-goers and promoted their all-round development. Bangalore-based student Vaania Kapoor was awarded scholarships of ` 10 lakhs.   Acknowledging the overwhelming response this year too, igenius was flagged off in 2010, CEO and managing director of Max New York Life Insuarance, Rajesh Sud said, “We are pleased to reiterate our pledge to sustain overall child development and a secure future for them. The second igenius scholarship 2011 is our commitment in continuation to recognise the all-round excellence among children. The response has been overwhelming and we are thrilled that in a short span of time igenius has emerged an established national platform which is a place where every child gets an opportunity to unleash the hidden genius within.”He further added, “The success and the growing popularity of the igenius Scholarship programme in the last two years is a testimony of our belief that young parents are increasing looking to promote multi-dimensional development beyond academics for their children. This year we are also introducing a new award category called the ‘Talent Encouragement Award’ to recognize and reward extraordinary fighting spirit against all odds.”  Participants in two categories, Juniors (from class 3-5) and Seniors (from class 6-8), were evaluated through a four-stage process. In addition to their performance in tests that evaluated their all round skills, the third stage of the scholarship programme entailed a live interaction with a jury through video conference. 22 shortlisted candidates from this stage underwent the final evaluation at Epicenter in Gurgaon in front of a live audience from which two children walked away with the top honours of scholarships worth ` 10 Lakhs each. The rest of the 20 participants received scholarships worth ` 1 Lakh each. Juries who evaluated these participants at various stages comprised of Derek O’Brien, Niel O’Brien, Ruskin Bond and cricketer duo, Ashish Nehra, Murali Karthik and Mithun Manhas.The programme also supported parents in their quest to provide enabling environment for multifaceted growth of their children.
