Mob ransacks police station, demands accused in a murder case be handed over

A mob on Tuesday ransacked Sundernagar Police Station in East Singhbhum district, demanding that a murder accused who is currently in police custody be handed over to them, police said.

A large number of locals gathered at the police station demanding that accused Bagrai Soren, accused in the murder case of 30-year-old Salki Chaki of the same locality who was killed on Sunday, be handed over to them, a senior police officer said.

The mob overturned the police jeep parked in front of the police station as the cops tried to stop the crowd from entering into the premises, the officer said.

A big police contingent was later deployed at the police station.
