HYDERABAD: With effect from July 1, the income certificates issued by members of the legislative assemblies of states and Union territories will be accepted for issuance of Izzat monthly season tickets (Izzat MST) by the railways, on a pilot basis for a period of three months.The cards will be issued subject to the following conditions : 1) The MLAs should issue income certificates only to persons belonging to their constituencies. 2) The income certificates issued by MLAs will be only for one-time use.The original certificate issued by the MLAs will be retained by the railway staff at the time of issuing Izzat Monthly Season tickets . 3) Fresh income certificate from the MLA concerned willl be required every time the person approaches the railway station for purchase of Izzat Monthly Season Tickets. The above certificate is in addition to the existing provision for acceptance of income certificates issued by the district magistrates, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), letters of recommendation from Union ministers or MPs (Rajya Sabha) to the divisional railway manager, BPL card or any other certificate issued by the central government under a recognised poverty alleviation programme.In 2009, the Railway department introduced Izzat monthly season tickets costing Rs 25 each for the benefit of the people working in the unorganised sector with a monthly income not exceeding Rs 1,500, for travel up to 100 km from the station serving their place of residence.
