Karnataka police on Monday found the body of a Congress worker, Padmanabha Samant who was missing since March 28. The body was found hanging from a tree in an advanced state of decomposition in Vamadapadavu in Dakshina Kannada district reported Hindustan Times.
The 34-year-old Congress worker was a resident of Thimaradda village, Vamadapadavu, and had also served as the vice president of the backward classes unit of the district. Samant’s brother in his complaint said that he worked as a caterer in Mangalore and used to come home every two-three days.
On March 28, the family called him multiple times however all went unanswered over the night, so the family lodged the missing complaint. It was on March 31, when the Punjalakatte cops found them hanging from a tree about half a kilometre from his home in a hilly area near the areca nut plantation, stated the English daily.
A case has been registered under Section 174(3)(vi) of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) based on a complaint from the deceased’s family, said the police, adding that an autopsy has been conducted by K S Hegde Hospital and cremation was held on Sunday night.
Several Congress leaders paid tribute and have demanded an investigation into the circumstances that led to his death.

According to the police, Ranjitha and Darshan Babu got married in the year 2020 and in the year 2021, the wife learnt about her husband’s betting addiction
