TUMKUR: On the eve of his leading a delegation of bureaucrats to Singapore, Industries Minister Murugesh R Nirani hoped that the Global Investors Meet-II will evoke good response. He addressed the media here on Saturday that the meet will generate 10 lakh jobs and bring in an investment of Rs 5 lakh crore.Adding that the memoranda signed in GIM-I have a conversion rate of 62 per cent, the minister said that following the Supreme Court’s ban on iron ore mining, iron-ore based companies which had signed the MoUs stayed away. The minister stated that with government taking steps to acquire lands in tier-II and III cities, industries too may come up there.‘Did not Bend Rules’Seeking to clear the air over his alleged involvement in land-grabbing during the last GIM, Nirani clarified that he has not even grabbed a gunta of land and a probe will establish his innocence. “I am an industrialist first and minister next, but I have not bent rules to grab land.”
