The MHA has warned of a stampede-like situation at the World Cultural Festival, said sources.

New Delhi: Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has asked the Delhi Police to be on high alert at Sri Sri Ravi Shankar event beginning on Friday, said sources.

The MHA has warned of a stampede-like situation at the World Cultural Festival. Security was beefed up across the country after 10 suspected Lashkar-e-Toiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) operatives were believed to have entered Gujarat.

Cities across the country were put on high alert after reports of a potential terror strike.

A police source had said the input specifically mentions about 10 terrorists of LeT and JeM outfits having entered India via Gujarat and that they could carry out a terror strike in Delhi.

Security has been ramped up at major religious sites in Gujarat like Somnath Temple and Akshardham and in metro cities -- Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata and Bengaluru. Vital installations across the metros like railway stations and airports are also being secured.
