THRISSUR: A house surgeon in the paediatric outpatient wing at Jubilee Mission Hospital here on Friday, was allegedly attacked by a man on the hospital corridor.According to hospital sources, Dr Tinku Edwina, 25, was attacked by Rafi of Aranattukara, with a big knife, while she was on the way to another block through the hospital corridor.She suffered injuries on the face, shoulder and neck. The hospital staff rushed her to the intensive care unit, where she underwent a surgery. Her condition is said to be critical.According to the Town East police here, Rafi entered the hospital corridor around 12.30 pm and hacked the doctor. The hospital staff overpowered him and informed the police. According to the police, Rafi stated that he attacked the doctor for not attending to him when he visited her the other day.The police are yet to ascertain the reason behind the attack and suspect that the accused was mentally deranged as he was making contradictory statements about the incident. The hospital authorities refuted the allegation and said that the doctor never attended the patient earlier.
