KOTTAYAM: The medical students of government medical colleges in the state will observe a token strike on Thursday in protest against the bond system implemented by the government, joint action council convener Dr Jinesh P S has said. MBBS students, house surgeons, PG students and resident doctors will participate in the strike.“The government is trying to run the entire Health Department in the state through the bond system. They are eyeing on monetary benefits. We are ready to work anywhere in the state if we are recruited through the PSC,” said Jinesh, adding that around 6,000 medical students of various government medical colleges will join the stir. Jinesh denounced the decision to increase the duration of rural service of medical students from one year to three years.
