KOTTAYAM: The SMS controversy which has caught the Kerala Congress (M) on the wrong foot and is also holding the political and personal stakes of Water Resources Minister P J Joseph and his arch rival P C George MLA heavily, is poised to have a natural burial.
Party chairman and Finance Minister K M Mani affirmed that the party has faith in the character of its leaders and the steering committee has entrusted him to go into the controversy in detail and take sufficient steps in the event of any leaders found guilty.Denying reports of a rift in the leadership brass, Mani said that the meeting was cordial by all means.

"There were queries on the issue and it was discussed as well. Complaints on the role of leaders in precipitating the SMS controversy was there. However, the meet resolved to entrust the chairman to look into the matter appropriately," Mani said.

When asked whether Wednesday's faux paus of the UDF Government on the floor of the Assembly was a failure of government chief whip P C George to cobble up sufficient numbers, it met with an inadequate response, eventually forcing Mani to save his nominee by stating that there was no failure.
