NEDUMANGAD: A 37-year-old man was stabbed to death allegedly by a youngster who suspected the former of maintaining an illicit relation with his mother. Sreekumaran Nair alias Sambhu, of Wariyakkonathu, Kunnursala, was stabbed to death allegedly by Seydali alias Shemy, 23, of Wariyakkonathu Veetil, Kachani and was arrested on Saturday. Police said that Seydali, a plumber, did not like the frequent visits of Sreekumaran Nair to his house and suspected that the latter had illicit relation with his mother. Sreekumaran Nair, a bachelor, was an employee of KSEB Statue office. Police said that Sreekumaran Nair who visited Syedali’s home in the midnight of Friday had a verbal duel with Syedali’s elder brother. Syedali, who went to watch the ‘Ulsavam’ in a nearby temple, reached home at that time. Syedali also had an altercation with Sreekumaran Nair and stabbed him in a fit of rage. “A detailed inquiry is being conducted,” Nedumangad Circle Inspector Sureshkumar said. The investigation team also includes Aruvikkara Sub-Inspector H L Honey. Police said that Ameer, father of Syedali, did not maintain any relation with his family. Sreekumaran Nair is the son of late Prabhakaran Nair. He is survived by mother Ambika and two sisters. The body was released to the relatives after autopsy in the Medical College Hospital.
