New Delhi: The world's largest democratic exercise, the elections to the Lok Sabha are held in every five years, or whenever Parliament is dissolved by the President of India. The 15th Lok Sabha was conducted in five phases between April 16, 2009 and May 13, 2009. With an electorate of 714 million.
All eyes are now on the elections to the 16th Lok Sabha which will be held in nine phases from April 7 to May 12, 2014 to constitute the new government in India. Voting will take place in all 543 Parliamentary constituencies to elect members of the Lower House of Parliament.
