New Delhi: The Goa Crime Branch on Tuesday named two former ministers from Congress in their report submitted to the Chief Minister of the state.
According to sources, former chief minister of Goa Digambar Kamat allegedly took bribes on two occasions between 2010 and 2011. Louis Berger officials personally handed over more than Rs 1 crore to the former chief minister.
Former PWD minister Churchill Alemao also took around Rs 70 lakh, the sources said.
Louis Berger has said that internal investigation has been conducted and it is committed to rooting out corruption. The statement issued by the company said "We conducted an internal investigation,cooperated with the US Department of Justice investigation and addressed, in an honest and transparent way , the problems caused by rogue former managers James McClung and Richard Hirsh."
The US company bribed the ministers to win consultancy for water augmentation and sewerage line project executed under JICA (Japan International cooperation agency) funding.
