Hyderabad: The industry and trade has lost around Rs 1,800 crore in terms of production in Telangana region due to agitations and bandhs for the past 12 days and will lose another Rs 1,000 crore due to the two-day industry shutdown called by statehood supporters on Monday and Tuesday, the apex trade body of Andhra Pradesh said on Monday.

The industry growth plunged to negative in August and September due to the various agitations, Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FAPCCI) said.

"The situation is forcing multinational companies to look to other states for work. We request the Government to ensure there is no disruption of industrial production," FAPCCI said in a release here.

The industry in the state is suffering from external forces like recession and economic slowdown in various parts of the world. On the top of, if power cuts are also imposed citing Government employees' strike, the industry will suffer further, it added.

Telangana is witnessing 'sakala janula samme' (general strike by all sections of society) since the last two weeks in support of statehood demand.
