Lokayukta nabs 4 Govt officials for bribery
Malavalli Town Municipality Commissioner, Manjunath Swamy was arrested for accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000.

Bangalore: Four government officials including Town Municipality Commissioner of Malavalli were nabbed by the Lokayukta sleuths on Thursday, for allegedly accepting bribes to show official favours.

Malavalli Town Municipality Commissioner, Manjunath Swamy along with Junior Engineer Prakash and Second Division Assistant Shivalingaiah were arrested by the Lokyukta police for accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 from AD Nagaraj for issuing his last pay certificate (LPC).

Nagaraj who was working as a Junior Engineer in the same Town Municipality earlier, was transferred to T Narasipura Panchayat engineering division.

During another raid in Haveri (Gadag District), a Junior Engineer of Haveri Zilla Panchayat was nabbed for accepting a bribe of Rs 22,000 from NREGP worker, S Shivaiah and others for making the payment for the work rendered by them in the last eight months.

An amount of Rs 2.18 lakh which had to paid to the NREGP workers was pending.

All the four accused were produced before the respective local courts and remanded to judicial custody.
