The Lokayukta Court on Thursday posted to Monday for orders a private complaint filed against former chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda and his wife, alleging illegal construction on government land and allotment of G category site to them when they already possessed land.

The complainant alleged that in 1998 when Sadananda Gowda was the MLA from Puttur, he was given 10 cents land by then deputy commissioner, on which he had constructed a building.

 In 2007, Gowda got a “G” category site from the Bangalore Development Authority as an MP by giving a false affidavit that he did not possess any site or land in the state, the complainant added.

 ‘Issue BPL Cards in 2 Months’ The High Court on Thursday directed the state government to complete the process cancelling illegal BPL cards by issuing them to eligible persons within two months and submit the report.

 A Division Bench headed by Chief Justice Vikramjit Sen directed the state government to issue BPL cards to eligible persons and as people in rural areas do not have internet access so with the help of village and taluk panchayat officers they can enrol themselves online.

 Tiger Reserve: Notice to KSPCB The HC on Thursday ordered issuance of notice to Department of Forest, Karnataka State Pollution Control Board and Chamarajanagar City Municipal Council in connection with the PIL filed alleging to allow dumping garbage near the Tiger Reserve forest area in Chamarajanagar district.

 A Division Bench headed by Chief Justice Vikramjit Sen issued notice and adjourned the case for further hearing.

 AG Seeks Time The Advocate General sought time from the High Court on Thursday to take instructions from the state government to let A S Sadashivaiah continue as the Chairman of Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB).

 Hearing the public interest litigation petition filed by Sriramegowda challenging the act of the state government in appointing R Sridharan, the Secretary to the Department of Forest, Ecology and Environment as adhoc to the KSPCB as chairman, a division Bench headed by Chief Justice Vikramjit Sen granted a week’s time to take instructions from the state government and adjourned the petition to September 12.

 2-week Deadline for Jumbo Report The HC on Thursday directed the Vigilance Committee to submit its report within two weeks in connection with PILs on elephant deaths in Mysore and Chamarajanagar. The case was adjourned to October 1.
