BHUBANESWAR: Within a month, the city will be spick and span. The numerous illegal hoardings that dot the city will be pulled down by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) as part of a drive against illegal hoardings.Buildings that have hoardings without BMC’s licence, private houses that allow hoardings or advertisements of any form, roadside illegal structures  that display such advertisements will all be pulled down. “Everyone must get the licence from BMC to display the hoarding on their building,” said City Mayor Anant Narayan Jena.A squad formed for the purpose will review the city’s public spaces and marketplaces and come out with a monthly report on the number of illegal hoardings.Future course of action will be taken based on the report.“The immediate impact: We will gain a lot of revenue that we were losing out,” said Jena. Revenue from hoardings is one of the major sources of income for the corporation. The drive will continue for 20 days and will cover the entire city, added Jena.
