"The entire Congress leadership was killed in Chhattisgarh. Did the state government order any investigation," said Rahul Gandhi. "I took Nand Kumarji's ~~amp;amp; names of other members, they were your leaders, they have been snatched away from you. Nand Kumar Patel would have become the CM, he was unstoppable. Slamming BJP for not having empowering youth and women, he said,"women run NREGA in J~~amp;amp;K. But here in Chhattisgarh, people forget women. Are the youth getting jobs? Are children getting education in Chhattisgarh. You go to Mumbai and Bangalore to get employment because they are Congress-ruled states. We don't want you to leave your state. You should find work here," said Rahul.
Advocating trademark bills of the party, Rahul Gandhi said Congress have ensured women can have their say and poor people get jobs.
"We empowered women, gave RTI, Food Security to the people. Even the poorest women can ask questions through RTI. Who brought RTI? The Congress. We introduced NREGA to give employment to poor people
Playing out the aam aadmi card, he said that Congress belongs to common man, the poor, the farmers, the tribals and the dalits.
"Wherever we go, we do the politics of rights and development, every caste, religion should have rights. This land, water and forest, which the BJP is snatching from you, will be returned to you by Congress," he said.
"Congress party is fighting the Chhattisgarh elections unitedly. We will win," he said as he concluded the speech.
After Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, Congress' spearheaded drive to stop BJP for winning in the state for the third consecutive time will also see Manmohan Singh addressing people in Raipur on November 9.
Eighteen Maoist-affected constituencies in the eight districts of Bastar, Bijapur, Kondagaon, Sukma, Narayanpur, Dantewada, Kanker and Rajnandgaon will go to polls in the first phase, while the rest of the 72 constituencies will go to polls during the second phase on November 19.
