Lawyer shot dead by paramour's husband, in-laws

A Meerut-based lawyer was allegedly shot dead by his paramour's husband and in-laws in Sujru Village, police said on Wednesday.

Rajiv Upadhya was allegedly shot dead by Shahnazar and his family members when he came to meet the latter's wife Arshi on Tuesday. Rajiv and Arshi were allegedly in an illegitimate relationship, SP (city) Rajkamal Yadav said on Wednesday.

A case has been registered against Shahnazar, his two brothers Shahnoor and Shahbaz and one more relative, said Yadav.

The accused had initially told the police that they shot Rajiv in self defence, mistaking him for a miscreant who had entered their house, but revealed the truth during interrogation, Yadav said.
