In a surprise move, the KSEB on Tuesday raided the bureau of the ruling Congress organ ‘Veekshanam’ at Thodupuzha as part of its drive to check over draw of power supplied by the service provider.
The move of the Board, which has not dared to act on media reports about the wastage of power at the residences of the several ministers in the state capital, has surprised some party leaders.
In an apparent attempt to save the skin, some leaders blamed it on the rival camp led by CPM for painting the party in a bad colour. While others feel that it could be the result of groupism existing within the party and inner politics of the coalition.
The raid was conducted by a three-member team from the Thodupuzha electricity division, around 11 am. “The inspection resembled to a typical one carried out on the premises of a habitual offender, said Veekshanam sources.
The officials were harsh and revealed their identity only after the inspection was over,” the sources alleged. The sources said that the inspectors also posed irrelevant questions to the staff working there.
However, a senior KSEB official said that the raid was part of the audit being carried out in the area. At least four to five raids were carried out in Thodupuzha, a senior KSEB official at Thodupuzha said.
