New Delhi: Noted Kerala actor Mohanlal's father Viswanathan Nair died in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday evening following old age-related illness.
He was 80 and is survived by wife Santhakumari and Mohanlal. Their another son Pyare Lal died earlier.
Nair, a retired Law Special Secretary in state service, was ailing for sometimes now and the end came at a private hospital where he was undergoing treatment.
Mohanlal has recently joined AIDS campaign in Kerala becoming the goodwill ambassador for the Kerala State Aids Control Society..
Mohanlal is writing a culinary book based on his 25 years of travelling experience within India.
According to Mohanlal, who has essayed roles in Malayalam, Hindi and Tamil films, work on the book will start next month and will take nearly a year to complete.
He recently released a book on Kerala. The 816-page tome is a first among destination books and includes 1,300 pictures that capture the extraordinary beauty of the state -- the land, the people, culture, the dances, festivals and everyday life.
