New Delhi: Having received scores of complaints from parents about cases of private tuition business, the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has written to its schools that prompt action should be taken against the erring teachers.

There are 1,100-odd KV schools spread across the country with some branches abroad.

In a letter to senior officials, Additional Commissioner of the KVS UN Khware said that there have been many complaints from parents regarding cases of private tuition business in these schools.

"This is a very serious issue which requires immediate systemic action to prevent illegal tuition business by some of our teachers," Khware said in his letter to senior functionaries in the KV administration.

He observed that the education code for KVs barred such practices and the private tuition business affects the trust that parents repose in the education system.

"Needless to say, complaints related to tuitions need to be probed thoroughly in a discreet manner and dealt with desired strictness," Khware wrote to senior officials, adding that any complaint received in this regard should be taken seriously.

"The private tuition business disturbs the whole learning process. The problematic side includes distortion of the mainstream curricula, pressure on young pupils and providing undue benefits like supply of question papers to his/her own tuition students before exams, high marking in practical or internal exams to preferred students etc," Khware said in his letter.

In some action points he laid down for the Principals, Khare emphasised that good amount of care and caution was necessary in setting of question papers and maintaining their sanctity and confidentiality.
