Kashmiri separatist Asiya Andrabi calls New Year party in Gulmarg 'cultural onslaught'

Srinagar: Calling the New Year's party at Gulmarg a "cultural onslaught", pro-Pakistani separatist and chairperson of Dukhtaran-e-Millat Asiya Andrabi has opposed the celebrations.

Asiya Andrabi, who is also a senior Hurriyat Conference leader, has issued a diktat to the people of Kashmir to not attend such New Year celebrations where she says "shameless shameless actors of Bollywood have been invited". She claimed the programme in Gulmarg which has been organised by Kashmiriyat is being sponsored by few Urdu and English dailies and TV channels.

“In a clear attempt to counter the Islamic ideology of Kashmiris. The real culture of Kashmir is related to Islam and it has no place to celebrate events like New Year. These events can be important for the Brahman culture but they don’t have any connection with Islam," she said in a statement released on Saturday evening.

She claied such celebrations are organised under an agenda devised by the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) to "thrust upon Kashmir the shameless and lewd culture of India".
