Karan Johar will be the first Indian filmmaker to be in the judge’s panel of the Miss World 2007.

New Delhi: Karan Johar surely has a reputation for having an eye for good looks. On September 30, he will become the first Indian filmmaker to be in the judge’s panel of the Miss World 2007.

Call it a fallout of the globalisation of Bollywood or Karan Johar's charm offensive, he has made it.

Karan does have a first-hand experience of judging beauty pageants back home. He has been in the jury at the Femina Miss India for a few times. But this will be the first global pageant where he will be a judge. The finals of the 56th Miss World pageant will be held at Warsaw, Poland, on September 30.

Karan says it was the Times Of India Group, which referred his name. "I'm flattered to have been chosen. They asked the Times Of India Group to name one filmmaker as judge for Miss World. They suggested my name," a Bollywood website quoted Karan as saying.

"Although I've been quite a regular at the judges' panel for beauty contests in India, this is my first brush with a global beauty pageant. I hope I can handle it," he says.

Karan Johar was in Toronto earlier this week for the screening of his film Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan were also present at the festival. The trio also had an interesting interaction session with the audiences at the film festival, regarding Bollywood films.
