Justice Samudrala Govindarajulu of the High Court on Friday granted conditional bail to KA Paul, evangelist and Praja hanti Party president, against whom a case under Sections 120 B, 307 of IPC was registered at the Ongole police station in Prakasam district. He has been in judicial custody since May 21.
The judge, while allowing Paul's bail petition, said 60 days of custody was over and the police had filed the charge sheet. He directed Paul to surrender before the third additional junior magistrate, Ongole to avail bail by producing a personal bond for `10,000 along with two sureties. He also directed him to surrender his passport to the court concerned.
The High Court had earlier allowed him to take part in campaigning in the recent byelections but he could not be released on bail since PT warrant issued by a lower court in Mahbubnagar was pending against him. The evangelist was arrested in Ongole on May 21 on the charge of luring the police to eliminate Koteswara Rao, prime accused in the murder of his brother David Raju.
