JNU Professor is New VC of Hyderabad University

HYDERABAD: Professor Ramakrishna Ramaswamy assumed charge as the new vice-chancellor of the University of Hyderabad (UoH) on Wednesday. He is a professor in the School of Physical Sciences and the Centre for Computational Biology and Bioinformatics at the Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi. He succeeds Syed Hasnain, whose term ended on April 1.Prof Ramaswamy worked as a post-doctoral fellow at California Institute of Technology during 1978-80, before joining Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, where he worked from 1981 to 1986. He holds a PhD in chemistry from Princeton University and is an alumnus of IIT-Kanpur and Loyola College, Chennai.
