Srinagar: A student from Jammu and Kashmir who cracked IIT-JEE fighting against all odds has been hit by a financial constraint even before embarking on his journey to the prestigious engineering college. Zahid Ahmad Qureshi, from Kupwara in Jammu and Kashmir, has been a victim of terrorism.

The 21-year-old was just two-month-old when his father was gunned down by suspected terrorists and his mother got remarried and left him in the care of his grandparents.

Zahid cracked the IIT entrance exam and secured the 89th rank in the prestigious exam. Zahid cracked the toughest exam in the first attempt even though he came to know about it only after his 12th exams but he is far from being in a celebratory mood.

Zahid is contemplating forgoing his seat due to financial problems. He is not in a position to deposit even Rs 10,000 for counselling.

Zahid's first choice is IIT-Madras followed by IIT-Kharagpur and IIT-Mumbai. The young boy wants to be software engineer and then pursue Post Graduate Diploma in Management from IIM.
