New Delhi: A BJP leader from Jharkhand was caught on tape thrashing the District Transport Officer (DTO) of Latehar district.

The assault, which was caught on tape, happened after the officer allegedly removed a name plate from BJP leader Rajdhani Yadav's vehicle carrying his designation and name.

After the video went viral, an FIR has been filed and Yadav arrested.

DTO Latehar F Barla intercepted the vehicle of Yadav, Latehar district vice-president of the party's 20-point programme, and removed the name plate in the district collectorate premises, an official told PTI.

Sources told PTI Barla received injuries and was rushed to Sadar Hospital for treatment.

As the assault occurred in the district collectorate, some people managed to record it on their mobile phones. In the video, Yadav was seen rushing to the DTO as he was talking on the phone before landing several blows on him.

The Deputy Development Commissioner, Latehar, Anil Kumar Singh said action will be taken against the culprit for obstructing government official from discharging his duty.

The Deputy Commissioner of the district, Pramod Kumar Gupta said the culprit will be punished after investigation.
