New Delhi: Ten years after the horrific incident, 27-year-old acid attack victim Sonali Mukherjee on Thursday underwent a reconstructive surgery at BL Kapur Memorial Hospital in New Delhi.

Doctors attending on Sonali said that she is still in the ICU as she has developed some respiratory complications but they assured that her condition will stabilise in a few hours.

It was after CNN-IBN had highlighted her plight and initiated a campaign, that help started pouring in for Sonali. But justice still eludes her with her perpetrators still roaming scot-free.

Sonali was attacked with acid in 2003 after she spurned the advances of three men in her neighbourhood in her village in Dhanbad in Jharkhand.

Disheartened with not getting justice and medical help, Sonali had even demanded euthanasia. Her family was also finding it difficult to cope with her medical bills. "Either give me justice or let me die," she had said.

But with CNN-IBN on her side, Sonali has now gathered courage to fight for justice.

What's your reaction?
