Jaya attacks Centre on fuel price hike

CHENNAI: “At a time when the people of the country are crushed by the ever-increasing rise in prices of essential commodities, the Central government has, once again, taken a ‘reverse gear’ step by increasing the petrol price.  “No one can afford this hike. It is like rubbing salt in the wound”, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa said on Thursday night. The CM said the price hike would severely affect the middle class people who use two-wheelers.  Instead of taking steps to bring down the prices of essential commodities, the Centre has been taking steps to increase the prices. Jayalalithaa asked the Centre to withdraw the hike immediately.
