Jaya announces Rs9 crore boost for Textile Parks

CHENNAI: Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Monday earmarked `9 crore as grant for all textile parks being set up as part of the Integrated Textile Park  Project (ITPP). The grant allocated is nine per cent of the total outlay for these parks.Further, to disburse this grant and to monitor the progress of the ITPP, a State-level committee headed by the Handlooms and Textiles Director will be constituted, an official release here said.The Integrated Textile Park Project has been implemented since 2005 in Tamil Nadu.With the provision of grant for textile parks, the investment in textile industry will go up, resulting in more employment opportunities for weavers.  Setting up of textile parks will help attracting more foreign direct investment, the release further said.
