Reports that the US is planning an attack on Iran over the nuclear issue are driving up the numbers of people dying to become martyrs.

New Delhi: Some 200 Iranians gathered at the former American Embassy in Tehran. It may look like a job fair, but there are no investment-bankers here.

Reports that the US is planning an attack on Iran over the nuclear issue are driving up the numbers of people literally dying to become martyrs.

Said one of the men gathered outside the embassy, Mohammad Javad Eskandari, "We are prepared to help Palestinian nations against the Zionist regime by giving our lives through martyrdom."

These young men are signing up to carry out martyrdom missions if Iran is attacked over its nuclear programme and they have set their sights at US and British interests in the country.

A spokesman for the Committee for the Commemoration of Martyrs of the Global Islamic Campaign, said that fears of a US attack have driven numbers through the roof.

Young men and children were surrounded by a macabre exhibit filled with pictures of Palestinian suicide bombers and videos of Israeli army attacks.

Abolfazl Rafei, another martyr hopeful said, "We, the Hizbollah youth, are always prepared to eradicate and overthrow the Zionist regime and we will resist until Israel is completely abolished."

The committee says they are not affiliated with the government. Formed in 2004, it claims to have 52,000 members.

Iranians aren't thought to have directly executed suicide bombings in recent years, but that all could change soon.

What's your reaction?
