KOZHIKODE: Communal harmony, secularism and the ability of every child and adult in India to accept and glorify diversity have grabbed world-wide attention, Vice-president Hamid Ansari has said.He was inaugurating the ‘Sneha Sangamam’ programme, held in connection with the opening of the renovated Tali Siva Temple and Kuttichira Mishkal Mosque here on Friday.Hailing the function as a unique gathering of communal harmony, Hamid Ansari said, “The temple and the mosque both suffered ravages at the hands of men or nature, and the decision to restore both these is great.  “This is not merely an exercise of building or rebuilding but the projection of how India really is, the composite culture and the tolerance of India.” This is a remarkable tribute to the people of this ancient city and people in the state of Kerala, he added.“Many people asked me how we keep the unity. It is very simple, we built a very big circle in which everybody comes in and we didn’t make a small circle,”  Hamid Ansari said. Apart from a prepared speech, Hamid Ansari recollected his meeting with a European filmmaker. “He came to India and Kerala and captured a short film named ‘The Men and Gods of Kerala’. It was a study through camera on how people of various religions live side-by-side in the state, and it is remarkable that the real inner life of the people was projected in the screen,” he said. Minister of State for Home Affairs Mullappally Ramachandran presided over the meeting.
