New Delhi: With a month to go for the Independence Day celebrations, Delhi Police and its counterparts in neighbouring states on Thursday reviewed the security scenario in the National Capital Region against the backdrop of Mumbai serial blasts.
An interstate co-ordination meeting, convened in New Delhi by the Delhi Police, was chaired by Police Commissioner BK Gupta and attended by senior officers and representatives from Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
A senior police official said the objective of the meeting was sharing of information and reviewing the security situation in view of Wednesday's serial blasts in Mumbai.
"With this background, the meeting focused on the evaluation of threat perception related to coming Independence Day. Besides, exchange of information on interstate criminals and their modus operandi was done and strategies chalked out for concerted action against active criminals.
"The modalities of pre-operation and post-operation coordination by timely sharing of information, association in raids, dissemination of information on wanted criminals, dossiers and interrogation were discussed," the official said.
Gupta stressed on the extensive use of ZIPNET, which is a very useful tool for sharing of information on real time basis. He said coordinated action should be taken to organize joint checking at borders.
