We are all aware that honey is a healthy alternative to refined sugar used commonly in India. It is a natural sweet substance that is produced by honey bees. It is a cholesterol, fat and sodium-free liquid. Do you know the biggest consumer of honey worldwide is India? Nowadays, getting pure honey is almost impossible. Most of the brands add adulterants to make honey. According to a Local18 report, one can find raw and pure honey in Andhra Pradesh.

Reports suggest that some tribals in Parvathipuram Manyam district, earn a living by selling putta honey and stick honey. This is the main source of income for people in Lambasingi village, Paderu town, and Araku Valley. In these areas, stick honey and putta honey are extracted and sold by the tribals.

On the way from Narsipatnam to Lambasingi, in a village called Daunur, Hari, a tribal youth, sells putta and stick honey in bottles by the roadside. It is said that a litre of stick honey is sold for Rs 600 and putta honey for Rs 800.

Hari one of the honey sellers shared that they directly collect stick honey from the hills. He further added that if one wants to recognise whether it is original honey or not, they will have to perform some tests. He said that for this, one has to put this honey in a glass of water first; the original honey will go down. It is said that honey mixed with jaggery will turn all the water red.

Hari added that if a match stick is dipped in honey and kept for five minutes and lights up without getting wet, then it is original honey. He added that they sell honey extracted from trees in the hills in their tribal area, and this is their main source of livelihood. He also shared that to get this original honey, one can call this number: 9347290143, and they will give it to them. If anyone is interested, they can also take the original honey on the way to Lambasingi.
