New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation on Monday filed a fresh status report in the coal scam before Supreme Court in which the agency stated that no criminality has been found in 15 coal block allocations and 50 companies.
Of the 16 FIRs registered in the scam, a chargesheet would be filed in seven cases.
The status report presented by the CBI also attaches a note of former coal secretary PC Parekh wherein it talks about rejection of an allocation to a company. The report further reads that allocation to this company can be done through politico bureaucratic way.
At the same time it is being reported that no decision has been taken at the meeting of Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA). Government sources, however, say that Attorney General is likely to seek more time from Supreme Court.
CCEA was of the view that a decision on objective criteria for the blocks which haven't begun production cannot be taken in a haste, said sources.
