The proposal of mock JEE exam has been made to wean students away from the coaching industry.

A committee constituted by IIT Council has recommended major changes in the IIT-JEE format. It has proposed an online test for scientific aptitude and innovative thinking ability.

The proposal of mock JEE exam has been made to wean students away from the coaching industry.

According to the recommendation, four lakh candidates will be shortlisted for taking JEE based on the online test. It also suggests the 2-tier entrance test to continue in 2016.

The first stage is JEE Main, which is gateway to the B.Tech courses offered by the institutes including NITs and IIITs. Beside this, the candidates who qualify the JEE Main would be eligible for the JEE Advanced 2016 entrance test which is a gateway for the B.Tech courses offered by the IITs.
