The Hyderabad traffic police have churned out an interesting idea to stop people urinating in public by garlanding those who commit the crime.
The traffic police launched the campaign on Sunday led by an Inspector named T Rama Swamy.
Speaking to CNN-IBN he said, "We see people urinating in public. Therefore as a part of friendly policing, we have started this initiative of garlanding them."
"After greeting them with garlands, we humbly request offenders not to create nuisance in public and use the public toilets instead. We are hopeful that with this initiative people will stop urinating in public," he said.
It was learnt that Swamy witnessed the same practice in Delhi couple of years back. After being inspired with the similar act of garlanding the offenders in Delhi, he decided to start the campaign in Hyderabad to make people aware about the ill affect of urinating in public.
In last two days many people were felicitated at various places in Hyderabad as a part of Swachh Bharat mission.
