New Delhi: In the wake of the Hyderabad blasts, which claimed 12 lives, high alert has been issued in all major cities.
Police on Thursday sounded a high alert in parts of Karnataka, including IT hub of Bangalore City. Security has been stepped up in sensitive areas, Railway and Bus stations in Bangalore.
Alert has been sounded in parts of Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, West Bengal and other states. Security has also been tightened at the Jammu and Kashmir border.
Several check posts have been set up in cities and on state and national highways to check suspicious elements. The serial blasts in the Andhra capital has claimed 12 lives and injured 57 others. Two explosions took place in the Andhra Pradesh capital at around 7 pm. Following the blasts, the area was cordoned off.
Referring to the serial blasts, Union Home Secretary RK Singh said IG NIA and probe team of NSG is being flown from Delhi.
While one of the blasts took place near Venkatadri theatre, the second one occurred near Konark theatre. According to police, while the first bomb was placed on a motorcycle, the second bomb might have been kept inside a tiffin box.
