Bhopal: According to sources, Madhya Pradesh Governor Ram Naresh Yadav has been asked by the Home Ministry to resign after he was named in an FIR filed in the the Vyapam recruitment scam.
Yadav is the first sitting Governor to be named in a corruption FIR filed in the case. Yadav came under the scanner after his son was arrested. The Madhya Pradesh government has been accused of manipulating the selection process for government jobs.
The manipulation in selection process conducted by Vyapam, is being probed by a Special Investigation Team (SIT).
While admitting that the FIR process is on, senior police officer Ashish Khare had earlier said, "As per the High Court directions to the SIT, the STF (Special Task Force) will do what the SIT recommends."
SIT chief Chandresh Bhushan said on Monday that many people had complained to him regarding the proceedings. He also said Congress leader Digvijaya Singh too had complained and a probe was being carried out.
The government has told the High Court that 539 people have been arrested and 218 are still absconding in the Vyapam scam.
