HYDERABAD: A history-sheeter and his nephew were brutally killed by armed assailants in broad daylight in Old City on Wednesday.The incident happened at 3.30 p.m. in Kishan Bagh. The history-sheeter identified as Syed Ijaz (28) of Kishan Bagh was at a marriage hall making arrangements for his relative’s wedding when around 12 people attacked him with sickles, knives and daggers, Bahadurpura police said. They slit his throat, killing him instantly. Ijaz’s nephew, Malik Imran of Kamatipura tried to rescue his uncle and suffered multiple stabs. He was rushed to a hospital and died while undergoing treatment. Two other relatives, Chand and Pasha were also attacked and are undergoing treatment. Police suspect Ijaz’s involvement in the killing of Zunaid Sharif and rivalry over land disputes might have led to the killing. “Ijaz suspected Zunaid as a police informant and killed him,” police said. A gang of assassins might have been hired to kill him, police added. A case has been registered and the police are investigating.This is the second incident in which a history-sheeter has been killed in the city. A few days ago, a history-sheeter of Amberpet was killed at Kacheguda.
