After seeing the couple lying covered in blood, guards at the Taj Nature Walk immediately called for help and the couple was rushed to hospital.

Agra: In an uncanny incident, a girl and a boy slit each other's throat with blade on Wednesday at Taj Nature Walk in Agra. The Muslim girl and the Hindu boy took the extreme step after their families denied them permission to get married.

Following the incident, the couple was rushed to the SN Medical College hospital. They were identified as Rajveer Singh, who is the resident of Dehradun and Shabnam Ali from Karbala in Agra.

"Both of us tried hard to convince our parents to allow us to get married, but our religion remained the biggest hurdle. We took this step after failing at every point," Rajveer told additional city magistrate MP Singh while recording his statement.

After seeing the couple lying covered in blood, guards at the Taj Nature Walk immediately called for help and the couple was rushed to hospital.

The family of the girl claimed that they were willing to get the two married but were delaying it as the boy is still unemployed. However, Rajveer rubbished the version given by Shabnam's family.
