MYSORE: Heavy rains lashed the city leaving one person dead on Wednesday night. Nanjappa (45), a farmer, died of electrocution in Kadakola village of Mysore taluk in the early hours of Thursday when he came in contact with a live wire. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.According to a complaint registered with the Mysore South Police, Nanjappa was carrying cow dung to a pit around 5.30 am, when he was electrocuted.Tahsildar Manjunathaswamy, who visited the spot, said the Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) has announced a compensation of `1 lakh to the family.In addition another `50,000 was given by the APMC to the family of the deceased.The body was handed over to Nanjappa’s relatives after an autopsy at K R Hospital.Trees UprootedTwo huge trees in Vinaya Marga of Siddhartha Nagar and Gokulam Main Road were uprooted and caused inconvenience to the public.Fire personnel and Mysore City Corporation cleared the roads later.Water-logging was reported in low-lying areas in Kuvempu Nagar, Jayanagar, Vidyaranyapuram resulting in overflowing manholes.Due to the heavy downpour, the roof of a house owned by one Jayamma collapsed partially in Jayanagar.The people blamed Mysore City Corporation for not addressing their grievances.In some areas, power supply was disrupted as tree branches fell on electrical wires
