Heavy rainfall expected in Chennai, other parts of Tamil Nadu

Chennai: Moderate to heavy rains are expected in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday owing to the deep depression that passed by the state on Monday evening.

Heavy rains will continue to lash interior parts of Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has directed agencies to expedite relief operations and an NDRF team has been deputed to Cuddalore.

Over 1300 people have been evacuated from different areas. Five people have died in various rain related incidents over past two days following which, state government has announced a Rs 4 lakh solatium to their families.
