HC upholds probe against Arun Kumar

KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Friday upheld the state government’s decision to conduct a Vigilance probe into the allegations levelled against Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan’s son V A Arunkumar, who is an Additional Director in IHRD. Justice Antony Dominic passed the order while dismissing a petition filed by Arunkumar seeking to quash the government order for a Vigilance probe. The petitioner contended that with Oommen Chandy being the present Chief Minister of the state, the investigation will not be fair and unbiased. “The result of accepting the contention would be that no agency will be competent to conduct the investigation as long as Chandy is the Chief Minister of the state,” the court observed.
