HC order a great relief: Parents

Students and parents said they are ecstatic as

the High Court directed the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) to announce

the seat allotment list for the casual vacancy round of Common Entrance Test

(CET) on Thursday.More than 700 students who had appeared for CET and Under Graduate

Entrance Test (UGET) conducted by Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental

Colleges Karnataka (COMED-K) now stand a chance to choose the best course from

the top engineering colleges without having to spend exorbitant tuition fee. It

may be recollected that the KEA had postponed the announcement of casual

vacancy round results to Saturday.Uma Shankar, a parent, whose ward had appeared for CET and

COMEDK entrance test, said: “It is a great news that the (CET) results would be

announced earlier. My daughter would now be able to choose the best BE course

from top engineering college especially from the government seats in private

colleges.” Umesh pointed out, “August 23 is the last date to surrender the BE

seats to COMED-K. With the CET results to be announced on Thursday, a decision

would be taken at the earliest about the BE course and the COMED K seat would

be surrendered without having to forfeit the entire tuition fee.”Another parent, Shalini Kumar, said: “It is a great relief

to know that KEA would announce the results first. If satisfied with the

allotment of a government seat, we would not have to shell out a lakh rupees

for the Engineering course via COMED-K.”Meanwhile, KEA Public Relation Officer said that the results

announcement process has already been initiated.“The online options entry process was completed on Wednesday

and the seat allotment list of the casual vacancy round has been initiated,” he

said.
