KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Tuesday blocked the move of the self-financing college managements to conduct a medical entrance examination on their own. The court ordered that the status quo regarding admission should be maintained for two months. It has directed the state government, the Commissioner of Entrance Examination and the management associations to submit affidavits.It further directed the college managements not to conduct entrance examinations on their own.Justice P R Ramachandra Menon passed the order on a petition by Amina Nahna of Karanthoor in Kozhikode, a rank holder in the list prepared by the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations, seeking a directive to the government to take over the admission procedure.She submitted that admission should be given to those who had been qualified in the examination conducted by the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations. she alleged that the Selffinancing College Managements Association hadn't yet conducted entrance examination on its own, going by the regulations of the Medical Council of India (MCI).According to the MCI regulations, an entrance examination should be conducted within or before May 31 and the result should be published before June 15."Since the managements have violated the MCI regulation, admission should be allotted to those who have qualified in the entrance examination conducted by the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations," the petitioner submitted.The Kerala Private Medical College Management Association and Kerala Christian Professional College Managements' Federation are the respondents in the case.
