Mumbai: While Day 1 at the Lakme Fashion Week kicked off on a rather interesting note - with maverick designer Rohit Bal opening the five day fashion extravaganza and Arjun Rampal walking the ramp in Gudda's creations, Day 2 was rather thanda in Bollywood parlance. While Rina Dhaka's winter/festival collection featured Sonal Chauhan as the showstopper (sought-after actresses like Anushka Sharma have walked for the designer before), Payal Singhal's show right before Rina's saw Karisma Kapoor in the front guest row. Jatin Varma's show had Chunky Pandey and Twinkle Khanna rooting for the designer from their front row seats.
Karisma was dressed in her trademark colours - white and blue - and was spotted dashing for the exit as soon as Singhal's show came to an end. The actress wore her trademark staple blue denims and crisp white shirt but it may have been a rather unusual style statement for a Bollywood star to flaunt at a fashion soiree (short dresses and gowns are the usual sartorial choices that actresses make for their appearances at LFW). None the less, the actress managed to look every bit gorgeous and had the shutterbugs clicking away in frenzy.
While Rina Dhaka's collection on the ramp was a colourful affair, her showstopper Sonal Chauhan didn't exactly put her best foot forward as she walked across the ramp in the designer's creation. Her walk was more of an uncomfortable tottering on heels as other models effortlessly sashayed past her. Either her ensemble made her uncomfortable, or the actress just didn't get her walking technique right. For someone who has in the past walked for designers like Riyaz Gangji and at the India International Jewellery Week, it was still not definitely the brightest moment for Sonal.
Actors Sikandar Kher and Meiyang Chang occupied front row seats during Dhaka's show while post show, a few other actors including Pooja Bedi, Poonam Dhillon and jewellery designer Farah Khan Ali were spotted interacting with photographers, happily posing for photographs. Pooja was draped in a rather nondescript blue gown and Dhillon looked the least bit dressed to attend a fun-filled fashionable evening.
Day 3 at LFW will see designers like Nachiket Barve and Narendra Kumar show their latest creations on the stage and it remains to be seen if Bollywood finds a greater presence under the arc lights tomorrow.
